Alba recruits 60 vocational trainees

Manama, June 26, 2010

Aluminium Bahrain (Alba), one of the largest aluminium smelters in the world, recently recruited 60 vocational trainees in association with Tamkeen, Bahrain’s labour fund.

The two-year vocational training programme will give eligible candidates hands-on training in maintenance, power operation and smelter operation and various other aspects of engineering relevant to Alba’s operations.

On successful completion of the programme, the candidates will have the choice of opting for a relevant position within Alba, a statement said.

“Alba will soon celebrate forty-years of its operations in Bahrain, and one of our proudest legacies has been the level of expertise and dedication demonstrated by our Bahraini workforce,” said Laurent Schmitt, Alba’s chief executive.

Alba’s vocational training programme is designed to inspire the next generation of Bahraini youth to consider the aluminium industry as a viable career option and to develop the necessary skills to be winners in whatever career they chose, he added.

Only Bahraini nationals – below 25 years – with a minimum national diploma or equivalent qualification in the field of engineering with a cumulative GPA of 2.75 and above can qualify for the vocational training programme.

Students who already possess a national diploma or equivalent, and will graduate in June 2010 are also eligible to apply, the statement said.

All applications are accepted online by albasmelter.com, it added. – TradeArabia News Service
