GPIC wins major global safety award

Manama, September 20, 2010

GPIC has been awarded the global safety certificate by the British Safety Council for the third successive year.

The award was presented at a grand ceremony in London in the presence of more than 1,000 guests.

Methods and professional standards adopted by the GPIC management in Occupational Safety and Health have led to the company winning the prestigious award.

The company has worked hard to spread the culture of safety and occupational health in the society.

GPIC competed with hundreds of affiliates and associates of the British Safety Council for the award.

'Achieving such prestigious award was a result of sincere efforts made by GPIC chairman Shaikh Isa bin Ali Al Khalifa, board members and employees,' general manager Abdul Rahman Jawahery said.

He added that health and safety are critically important in the workplace and play a core part in accident prevention.

Jawahery said in these difficult times it is vital that health and safety should not be seen as a cost to cut but as a crucial part of a well-run business that delivers benefits to organisations, employees and the economy alike.

He thanked the country's leadership for their great support to the industrial sector in the kingdom, expressing his gratitude to the company's managers and employees for their loyalty, dedication, teamwork and diligence that have made the achievement possible.

Founded in 1957, the British Safety Council is one of the world's leading health and safety organisations. Its mission is to keep people healthy and safe at work.-TradeArabia News Service
