EU imposes tax on UAE, Iran plastics
Brussels, September 29, 2010
The European Union has imposed five-year tariffs on plastics from Iran, Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates, saying there are illegal state subsidies for exporters supplying Europe's rapidly growing soft-drinks market.
Polyethylene terephthalate from Iran, Pakistan and the UAE - used for bottles and food packaging - will now face EU import duties worth 139.70 euros ($188.1), 44.02 euros and 42.34 euros per tonne respectively. - Reuters
