Alba seeks to boost ties with smelters

Manama, November 3, 2010

Alba's participation as delegate at a major forum underlines the company's commitment to foster strong links with smelters in the region.

The 14th International Arab Aluminium Conference & Exhibition (Arabal 2010) is being held in Luxor, Egypt.

Arabal 2010, which closes tomorrow, is one of the principal trade events for the aluminium industry in the Arab world and brings together aluminium producers, suppliers, consumers and research workers from around the world under one platform to discuss the challenges facing the industry, examine new trends and opportunities and provide avenues to explore business possibilities with potential trade partners.

Alba has been closely involved in organising this conference and was represented in the steering committee by Alba's marketing manager for GCC/Middle East and Africa A Aziz Daylami.

'Arabal 2010 offers a unique opportunity for smelters from the Middle East to exchange their experiences, learn of new developments in the industry, examine emerging trends, and look for ways to strengthen ties with present and potential customers and trading partners,' said Alba chief executive Laurent Schmitt.

'As the oldest smelter in the GCC and a regional pioneer in aluminium production, Alba is proud to be associated with this event that enables regional smelters to raise their profile on the international stage.

'It is further estimated that smelters in the GCC will together capture 14 per cent of the global share of aluminium production in the next four years,' he added.

An exhibition is also organised on the sidelines of the conference and Alba is one of the participants showcasing its portfolio of high-grade aluminium products, its quality-focused production process, its environmentally friendly and safety-conscious operations.-TradeArabia News Service
