Manama, June 28, 2011

Aluminium Bahrain (Alba), a global aluminium smelter, has donated BD10,000 ($26,522) to a major Bahrain-based centre for culture and research.

Chief executive officer Laurent Schmitt presented a cheque to Shaikha Noora bint Isa Al Khalifa, executive director of the Shaikh Ebrahim bin Mohammed Al Khalifa Centre for Culture and Research.

He said it was part of the company's commitment to preserve and protect Bahrain's traditions and heritage.

"As a Bahrain company, we are proud of being part of a rich cultural legacy that goes back hundreds of years," said Schmitt.

"It is our confidence that organisations such as the Shaikh Ebrahim Centre will play a key role in preserving the beauty of our cultural traditions and heritage for future generations to appreciate and enjoy,” he added. – TradeArabia News Service
