Agility gets pharma distribution certificate

Basel (Switzerland), September 17, 2011

Agility, a leading global logistics provider, has obtained the Good Distribution Practice (GDP) certification for its Pharmaceutical Competence Center (PCC) in Switzerland.

The certification verifies that the processes and procedures implemented by Agility’s PCC adhere to the best practices in handling pharmaceuticals, said the logistics firm in a statement.

These are temperature and time sensitive by nature and fall under strict regulations from the World Health Organization (WHO), it added.

Agility said the successful certification aligns with Switzerland and France’s accreditation as Qualified Envirotainer Provider (QEP), and is further recognition of its focus on delivering top logistics services specifically geared towards customer requirements of the pharmaceuticals and biotech industries.

“Customers in healthcare and life science sectors demand logistics services of the very highest level,” explained Niklaus Wasem, managing director (Area West) at Agility.

"The distribution of pharmaceutical products forms an important segment of integrated supply chain management in these industries and is usually very complex," he noted.

'Various people and different organizations are involved and responsible for the handling, storage and distribution of these products. GDP certification confirms our commitment to quality and excellence within the pharmaceutical area of logistics expertise," said Wasem.

The certificate is valid for the PCC in Basel, Switzerland for air and road transportation modes in addition to all logistics activities.

It was issued by the Swiss Association for Quality and Management Systems (SQS), a worldwide organization providing assessment and certification service.-TradeArabia News Service
