Dubai’s pre-owned boat show to be ‘bigger’

Dubai, September 25, 2011

This year’s edition of a major pre-owned boat show in Dubai will surpass last year’s show with a 20 per cent increase in boat exhibitors, said the organisers of the upcoming event.

Dubai Pre-Owned Boat Show is set to take place from November 17 to 19 at Dubai Creek Marina.

“The inaugural event last year was a resounding success attracting over 5,000 visitors, including over 60 boats and over 20 retailers, with boats to the value of over Dh55 million ($14.97 million) on display,” said Mustafa Al Hashimi, Club Manager of Dubai Creek Golf and Yacht Club.

“As successful as it was, we are confident that this year’s event will be even bigger, so we have invited regional exhibitors and guests and have even expanded the marina retail area by 20 per cent.”

“With registrations only recently opened and two months to go, we have already attracted 35 boats for exhibit and 20 retailers,” he added.

Organised by Dubai Creek Marina along with title sponsor Midex Airlines Dubai Pre-Owned Boat Show brings together sellers and buyers of pre-owned yachts for a ‘one stop-shop’.

Combining great deals on pre-owned vessels of all sizes from world renowned manufacturers, alongside leading marine traders covering finance, insurance, accessories, maintenance services and supplies, the Dubai Pre-Owned Boat Show offers absolutely everything an aspiring or current boat owner could possibly need in one convenient location.

The event will showcase a selection of boats that cater to all tastes and needs, ranging from 25 ft to 165 ft and prices of Dh30,000 through to Dh25 million.

On the top end of the range of boats on offer during the Dubai Pre-Owned Boat Show is the Mania, an Astondoa 76 ft yacht from Spain. Built in 2009, the four-bedroom luxury yacht features two 1,550 hp engines that deliver a maximum speed of 33 knots. The Mania will be available for Dh2.75 million, with a 2011 Yamaha FX Cruiser jet ski.

While at the more affordable end of the scale a 280-foot, two bed Bayliner with single V8 engine will be available for Dh300,000. At the inaugural 2010 event, the starting price for vessels was as low as Dh30,000 for a 15ft wooden sailing boat, showing the diversity of the scale and range of boats on display.

Exhibitors can display their boats on land or sea, at a cost of Dh25 per foot per day on water, or on land cost per day per bay Dh500, with retail space starting from Dh1250 per day.

Customers looking to purchase a pre-owned vessel are in a position to conveniently ‘buy it and sail it’ back home with key partners such as Arabian Scandinavian Insurance (ASCANA) on site to provide alternative modes of insurance and Gulf Finance on hand to provide marine finance for buyers.

As an added incentive for buyers at this year’s event, the award winning Dubai Creek Marina have introduced a special offer, providing free Marina membership for the remainder of 2011 for those that purchase vessel during the boat show and sign-up for 2012 membership.

Managed by Dubai Golf, through parent company wasl Asset Management Group, Dubai Creek Marina will make further announcements in coming months confirming the specific details of the vessels for sale and the traders exhibiting during the Dubai Pre-Owned Boat Show. – TradeArabia News Service
