Yansab restarts petchem complex

Al Khobar, November 15, 2013

Saudi Arabia's Yanbu National Petrochemical Co (Yansab) has restarted its petrochemicals complex after a three-week maintenance shutdown, the company said.

The complex was shut on October 23 due to a problem with a water cooling network.

The company said in a statement to the Saudi stock market that it restarted the complex in Yanbu, on the Red Sea coast of Saudi Arabia, on Thursday.

It raised its estimated financial loss due to the outage to around 160 million Saudi riyals ($42.6 million), up from a previous estimate of around 90 million riyals.

Yansab is a subsidiary of Saudi Basic Industries Corp (Sabic) and can produce 1.3 million tonnes per year of ethylene and 400,000 tonnes per year of propylene, among other products. - Reuters
