Kuehne + Nagel’s opens new warehouse at DWC

Dubai, April 6, 2014

Leading logistics provider Kuehen + Nagel has opened the phase two of its logistics centre at Logistics City, Dubai World Central (DWC).

Phase II features an additional 14,000 sq m of space to the warehouse and mezzanine, bringing the logistics’ centre area to 31,000 sq m, said a statement.

It is aimed at supporting customers in UAE’s fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG), hotel amenities, emergency/relief and aviation sectors, it said.

The expansion project was recently awarded a Leed (Leadership in Energy and Environment Design) gold rating by the US Green Building Council.

Andy Weber, president MEA and Central Asia, Kuehen + Nagel, said: “We take tremendous pride in having secured Leed Gold status for our Phase II expansion which we achieved through the hard work of our team.

“With our extended premises in Dubai World Central, we have reaffirmed our commitment to cater to the growing regional demand for integrated logistics services while underlining our confidence in DWC as the premier aviation and logistics hub in the Middle East,” said Weber.

Mohsen Ahmad, VP Logistics District, DWC, said: “While it essentially serves as a hub for all aviation, logistics and business activities, we are keen on promoting the sustainability efforts of our partners. Kuehne + Nagel’s LEED-certified expansion is an exciting development and a benchmark for businesses operating at DWC.

"We will continue to support our residents to adopt and implement green initiatives over and above the provision of multimodal logistics capabilities, world-class technology and business infrastructure," he said.

Kuehne + Nagel also operates a modern 16,000 sq m logistics terminal in the Jebel Ali Free Zone and has offices in Abu Dhabi and Sharjah. - TradeArabia News Service
