Oman firm plans new coil coating plant

Muscat, May 1, 2014

Oman Aluminium Rolling Company (OARC) has awarded a contract worth $32 million for the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) of a state-of-the-art coil coating plant, a report said.

The contract was awarded to HLG, operating as Leighton Middle East in Oman, the Oman Daily Observer report said.

The coil coating plant facility in Sohar is being developed as a downstream unit to OARC’s rolling mill, with a capacity of 25,000 tonne per annum.  The new rolling mill began commercial operations earlier this year. The plant will hit its full 160,000-ton production capacity by 2019.
