Alba opens new datacentre at Calciner plant

Aluminium Bahrain (Alba) has inaugurated its new datacentre at its Calciner and Marine plant in the kingdom.
 
The new data centre is one of the latest Generations of Containerised Datacentre (CDC) and was designed in-house by Alba’s IT team to suit the company’s requirements, said a statement.
 
Built by HP, it was delivered, commissioned and live in early December last year, it said.
 
Esam Hadi, Alba’s IT manager, said: “With an eye on the future, Alba has invested in a modern CDC, which provides a high-quality environment for central data storage and networking, as well as the software essential to access and manage these resources. Designed specifically to help meet the unique needs of Alba, this datacentre will ensure efficient continuity of operations, increased energy efficiency, and reduced risk.”
 
Ali Al Baqali, chief financial officer, said: “The main challenge for organisations in the world today is to manage the flow of data effectively and efficiently, in a competent and secure IT infrastructure. Alba’s new datacentre underlines its commitment to continuous improvement, and its dedication to promote operational efficiency.” - TradeArabia News Service
