Drydocks inks UAE hospitality project deal

Dubai's ship building unit Drydocks World is set to ink an agreement with Kleindienst Group to provide a complete range of offshore marine and operational management solutions for its 'The Heart of Europe' hospitality development.

The project comprises of a cluster of six islands owned by the Group on The World project in Dubai offering an unrivalled resort and leisure experience.  

The agreement will be signed by Khamis Juma Buamim, the chairman of Drydocks World & Maritime World and Josef Kleindienst, the CEO of the Kleindienst Group. Extensive discussions were held prior to reaching this stage.

As per the deal, Drydocks World will offer high-end technical and operational support to the development of the islands including managing the dredging operations.

The company will also provide comprehensive and integrated offshore marine based utilities solutions for electricity generation, water and sewage treatment plants for the islands.

Design and supply of appropriate equipment and deploying technical teams for operational management are other aspects that will be implemented. The Kleindienst Group will lease land at Dubai Maritime City, the iconic world-class maritime cluster, from which to base their logistic and marine based operations from.

Commenting on the contract, Buamim said: "We feel deeply privileged to be part of this highly significant project in Dubai that would re-define high-end living. Drydocks has the expertise and experience to integrate various technical elements to deliver genuinely sustainable long term solutions."

Kleindienst said the agreement was an important and significant step forward for 'The Heart of Europe' project.

"It incorporates three key elements for collaboration in the future: Drydocks World will build our marine based utilities solutions, which includes the critical infrastructure for electricity, water and sewage; they will provide us with prime plots for our working barges within Maritime City; and, they will manage our ongoing dredging efforts around the islands," he added.

The Heart of Europe is a first of a kind hospitality development in the world that brings together so many innovative concepts such as: outdoor climate-controlled areas, rain and snow lined streets, amongst other concepts that draw together the very best of European designs, heritage and entertainment.

Nestled amidst the archipelago of Dubai’s The World, this resort spans a cluster of six islands, stretching just 4km from the mainland. The Heart of Europe is a collection of 6 distinctive islands, each boasting a unique design based on destinations throughout Europe.

These include Germany, Monaco, Sweden, Switzerland, St. Petersburg and the main island – Europe which brings the inspiration from Vienna, Barcelona, Paris and Rome.
