Sabic among top firms on transparency list

Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (Sabic) has been ranked among the top international firms on a list that rated global companies for their transparency and public commitment.

Sabic scored a joint 18th position in the ‘Transparency Corporate Reporting: Assessing the World’s Largest Companies’ report by in a Transparency International, which evaluated and ranked the transparency of corporate reporting by the largest 124 publicly listed companies in 25 countries.  

The report assesses the transparency and disclosure practices of companies with respect to their anti-corruption programmes, company holdings and public disclosure of key financial information.

In the reporting on the Anti-Corruption Programs section, Sabic tied for fourth place with Arcelor Mittal, Astra Zeneca, BASF, Diageo, HSBC Holdings, JPMorgan, Royal Dutch Shell, and Volkswagen Group.

In the Organizational Transparency section, Sabic tied for eighth place with BP, Diageo, Gazprom, GlaxoSmithKline, Rio Tinto, Tesco, and Vodafone.

In the Country-by-Country reporting, the firm tied for 24th place with 3M, Bank of China, BASF, Bayer, BNP Paribas, Diageo, Mitsubishi UFJ Financial, and News Corp.

It has improved its score to reach this advanced position, owing to the company’s strong anti-corruption stand.
