DMCA sees record turnout for maritime licensing services

DUBAI, November 12, 2014

Dubai Maritime City Authority (DMCA), the government authority charged with regulating, coordinating and supervising all aspects of Dubai’s maritime sector, has recorded a wide turnout for maritime licensing services.

The services, which offer a well-defined organisational framework to maintain integration among all the aspects related to maritime safety, secure navigation and operational efficiency across Dubai’s coasts, has resulted in the registration of 574 vessels since beginning of the year, said a statement.

As many as 591 marine driving licenses were issued and 255 theoretical driving examinations were conducted to date.

The response to marine licensing services has prompted DMCA to continue to offer new facilities to maintain the highest levels of customer satisfaction, said the statement.

The new service ‘Exam in Your Office’, launched recently to enable people to get their marine driving licenses easily and quickly, complements the overwhelming progress in the marine licensing service industry, it said.

Adel Kalantar, director - Registration and Licensing, DMCA, said: “DMCA made remarkable achievements in terms of expanding the scope of maritime licensing services.

“All this was facilitated by the unparalleled support of the UAE’s wise leadership and the fruitful cooperation with our industry-related strategic partners from the public and private sectors, with whom we share common visions to promote Dubai as a first-class international maritime hub.”

“We look forward to continue the DMCA’s march of success and accomplishments, following an integrated strategy to raise the bar on maritime cluster components and upgrade the industry’s infrastructure, operations and logistics,” said Kalantar.

“While doing so, we will also offer diversified investment opportunities to boost Dubai’s regional and international maritime competitiveness and create a conducive maritime environment to attract leading investors from the region and worldwide,” he added. - TradeArabia News Service
