Workz... boosting running speeds by 30 per cent

Workz completes $1m upgrade of Dubai facility

DUBAI, November 26, 2014

Workz, a secure printing and supply chain services provider, has completed its $1 million upgrade of its Dubai scratch card printing facility, allowing it to increase running speeds by 30 per cent.

The upgrade will subsequently boost its production capacity to over 150 million cards per month, a statement said.

The upgrade comprises multiple enhancements including a new UV inkjet variable data printer, additional inline print stations and card wrapping machines as well as camera and data verification upgrades.

The custom-built, 40-metre long press, converts raw paper into finished product in less than two minutes and is believed to be the fastest running scratch card press in the world, the statement said.

The inkjet upgrade has significantly improved the efficiency of its variable data printing with the company now being able to enjoy a 60 per cent reduction of ink usage through the implementation of piezo Drop-On-Demand technology which controls ink flow avoiding wastage by ensuring each drop is applied only where required.

It has also expanded the variable data printing capabilities which now include multiple language options such as Arabic, Hindi and Farsi as well as offering an extended range of QR code options.  The 2D barcode format for which Workz was the first telecoms manufacturer in the region to print.

These upgrades, which have been combined with a newly sourced extra-strong board using nanoparticule manufacturing technologies, have enabled Workz to develop a stronger, more durable scratch card which is of particular importance in markets where end-user damage is rife, the statement said.

Features of the new card include a smooth, easy to scratch, latex scratch panel, with a reinforced scratch area underneath that has proven to improve the card’s durability by over 200 per cent.  Another resulting product enhancement is the product’s new anti-tamper security panel which protects the PIN number from being fraudulently exposed, according to the statement.

“We are excited to implement this upgrade as it enhances our product offering,’ said Brad Taylor, Workz director.

“We recognise customers need a reliable, high-quality recharge card at a low cost and we believe we deliver these benefits through our commitment, experience and continual investment in the latest and most advanced technologies available in the market today,” he added. – TradeArabia News Service
