Maritime security experts gather at Abu Dhabi summit

ABU DHABI, December 12, 2014

More than 100 maritime security experts from the UAE and other countries gathered at a summit this week in Abu Dhabi that focused on maritime security, surveillance, air and sea patrolling and anti-piracy counter measures.

Experts from GCC countries, Italy, Spain, US and Nato representatives were among the participants of the third Offshore Patrol Vessels (OPV) and Coastal and Maritime Surveillance Middle East Summits, which also included an exhibition of the latest naval technology to fight terrorism and piracy.

It features several lectures covering ways to protect the interests of the allies in the Gulf and nearby areas.

The Training and Interoperability capabilities were presented to support regional security missions, to enhance security and cooperation within the Gulf naval forces in this strategic region.  

Dr Khaled Al Mazrouei,chief executive officer of Abu Dhabi Ship Building, said: “We are proud to be platinum sponsor of OPV Middle East as ADSB is a key player in driving innovation in the UAE’s naval defense industry. We look forward to discussing effective solutions for maritime security in the region.”

Solutions for the modern maritime surveillance and patrolling requirement was also presenting, focusing on the new challenges for multi mission patrolling aircrafts based on ATR commercial platform or the MC-27J aircraft, a military multi mission platform.

Meanwhile, the use of unmanned systems for patrolling operation with their advantage and limits in sea-patrolling and SAR operations were also presented, while a representative from the Swiss company Qnective illustrated their activities in the field of the communication control and monitor of Oman’s coastline. - TradeArabia News Service
