Plant closures ... lasted between 20 and 26 days

Sipchem plant shutdown cost $4.8m

RIYADH, April 26, 2015

Two affiliates of Saudi International Petrochemical Co (Sipchem) restarted operations making carbon monoxide and acetic acid after a suspension for scheduled maintenance, the company said on Sunday.

The closures, which lasted between 20 and 26 days, cost about 18 million riyals ($4.8 million), to be reflected in earnings for the second quarter of this year, Sipchem said.

International Gases Company has a production capacity of 345,000 tonnes per year of carbon monoxide. International Acetyl Co can make 400,000 tonnes of acetic acid per year.-Reuters
