SHARJAH, May 4, 2015

Sharjah Airport International Free Zone (Saif Zone) recently participated in the Sial 2015, an event which was a focal meeting point of the agri-food world, held in Canada.

The event took place from April 28 to 30, at the Direct Energy Centre, Toronto.

The three-day food and packaging material exhibition attracted more than 800 national and international agri-food exhibitors from over 46 countries, said a statement.

“The Middle East market is rapidly expanding and we want to invite more multinationals in the F&B sector to the Saif Zone,” said Saud Salim Al Mazrouei, director of Hamriyah Free Zone Authority (HFZA) and Sharjah Airport International Free Zone (Saif Zone) while addressing a seminar on investment that was held in connection with the Sial 2015 exhibition.

Mohammed Saif Helal Al Shehhi, UAE ambassador to Canada visited the Saif Zone booth and discussed various options of FDI with Al Mazrouei. He also participated in the investment seminar which was organised by Saif Zone.

Al Mazrouei said: “More than 90 per cent of the GCC countries’ food requirements are met through imports, and Saif Zone is the best trade and logistic hub for the traders, because of its position and facilities.

“Sial 2015 provided an engaging platform which aided us in learning about the new developments in the global agriculture and food industry. The event helped us to portray Saif Zone and its advantages to the global market,” he added.

According to statistics, the UAE’s food consumption between now and 2018 is expected to further increase with an annual growth rate of more than 6.9 per cent, it added. – TradeArabia News Service
