UK firm signs service deal with Asry

MANAMA, May 20, 2015

Relay Engineering, a UK-based engineering firm, has signed a service agreement with Bahrain-based ship and rig repair yard Asry, under which the former will provide direct services to vessels at the latter's facilities.

Expanding the list of the yard's onsite specialist contractors, Relay will offer expertise in electrical, mechanical and construction engineering to Asry customers from a dedicated service point in the yard, said a report in the Gulf Daily News (GDN), our sister publication.

In a statement, Asry said the agreement was signed under the umbrella of its ongoing "Project Jupiter" initiative to make it the leading hub of onsite specialist contractors in the Arabian Gulf.

The service offering is particularly targeted at Navy vessels, jack-up rigs and barges.

"With Relay Engineering joining specialist contractors based onsite at Asry, we take another step to providing the most comprehensive range of repair and maintenance services to customers, particularly in the offshore and navy sectors," said Asry chief executive Nils Kristian Berge.

Relay Engineering managing director Paul Fisher said with the new arrangement in place, Asry will become a hub in the region for the engineering firm.

Asry procurement and contracts general manager Magdy Moustafa said this was a sign that the yard was on track to secure the presence of more and more specialised service providers on a long-term basis.

Relay Engineering general manager Andrew Wrankmore and Denholm Oilfield Services managing director Michael Beveridge were also present at the signing, along with other Asry officials. - TradeArabia News Service
