GPIC highlights achievements at fertiliser summit

AMMAN, June 14, 2015

Outstanding results achieved by Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company (GPIC) were highlighted during a leading fertiliser industry conference in Amman, Jordan.

Arab Fertiliser Association (AFA) chairman Dr Abdulrahman Jawahery, who opened the 28th Annual Technology in the Fertiliser Industry Conference, visited the GPIC stand at the accompanying exhibition, reported the Gulf Daily News, our sister publication.

Arab countries, and members of the AFA, working in the industry, took part in the exhibition, which displayed special equipment for manufacturing of fertilisers as well as raw materials.

Dr Jawahery, who is also GPIC president, was accompanied by AFA board members and other dignitaries. They were received by members of the company's management and other officials.

The guests were briefed on the GPIC's operations, its environmental activities as well as community service initiatives.

Speaking at the event, Dr Jawahery said GPIC was always keen to take part in such events that showcased the capabilities of the regional fertiliser industry.

He said GPIC enjoyed a very high status among the regional and global fertiliser industry and had achieved outstanding results in production, thanks to its professional management and organisational efforts.

Dr Jawahery said the company was a trendsetter for others to follow throughout the region.

He said all companies, like GPIC, should take part in such events since they brought experts from various fields together for them to share their experiences and expertise.

He said the AFA is trying to create a communication network between members to develop solutions to problems, taking into consideration Arab companies' experience in production, the environment and occupational safety.

This, he said, improved the efficiency of production units and reduced energy consumption along with enhancing the competitiveness of Arab companies while preserving the environment.

Dr Jawahery said the industry in the Arab world is considered one of the most important and a pillar of the economies of the region, and added this was the reason the AFA was creating more opportunities of interaction among members in order to better identify and solve any problems that might exist.

He said GPIC's participation is aimed at the development of technical expertise among the members and to make them more competitive and economically viable.

AFA is a non-governmental organisation founded in 1975 and will next year celebrate 40 years of its existence. It has been working to provide services to the Arab fertiliser industry along with contributing to the development of fertilisers and agriculture.

It also makes efforts to bridge the food gap and achieve global food security in the light of challenges and obstacles like poverty and unemployment in addition to the severe shortage of energy sources, natural gas, low rainfall and drought faced by many countries. – TradeArabia News Service
