Daimler names new CEO for ME, Levant

DUBAI, June 28, 2015

Germany-based Daimler AG, a multinational automotive corporation, has appointed Mark De Haes as the president and chief executive officer of Daimler Middle East and Levant (DMEL).

A veteran of the company, having joined Daimler AG in 1988 as a marketing analyst, De Haes’ career over the past 26 years has included a number of increasingly senior management positions across a variety of divisions and countries within Europe, said a statement from the automobile giant.

His most recent appointment was as CEO of Mercedes-Benz Belgium Luxembourg, a position he held since 2006, it said.

A Belgian national, De Haes’ is a graduate of the University of Leuven - Flanders in Belgium, and is fluent in four languages - Dutch, German, English and French.

De Haes will be based in the company’s regional headquarters in the UAE, and will lead the Middle East and Levant region, said the statement.

He will be responsible for Daimler AG’ sales and service operations in 13 countries, it said.

Speaking on the appointment, Dr Till Conrad, head of region overseas for Mercedes-Benz Cars, said: “We are delighted to welcome De Haes and are confident that his contribution will not only support the continued growth of the company, but also strengthen the overall performance of the business.” – TradeArabia News Service
