MasterCard names country manager for Bahrain

MANAMA, June 28, 2015

MasterCard, a leading global payments and technology company, has appointed Khaled Abdulkarim as the country manager for Bahrain.

Abdulkarim joins MasterCard with 13 years of experience and an extensive track record in the banking industry in the kingdom, said a statement from the company.

He was previously the head of retail credit and card centre at Ithmaar Bank, and prior to that, he was a product manager at Khaleeji Commercial Bank, and has also held positions at Bahrain Islamic Bank and CrediMax.

In his new role, Abdulkarim will focus on developing new relationships and enhancing MasterCard’s existing engagement with stakeholders in the country.

MasterCard recognises the importance of the Middle East and Africa (MEA) as its fastest-growing region, said a top official.

Girish Nanda, the area head for Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and Yemen, said: “In order for us to be closely aligned with the diverse needs of our markets, it is imperative that we build a robust and empowered team on-ground across the Middle East, with continued support from our regional hub in Dubai.”

“Abdulkarim brings with him a wealth of experience, and is ideally placed to head our business in Bahrain,” he added. – TradeArabia News Service
