Alba ... posts steady growth despite challenging market
conditions

Alba's production hits new high in Q2

MANAMA, July 6, 2015

Aluminium Bahrain (Alba), one of the world's leading smelters, posted solid growth in the second quarter with its production figures surging 3.1 per cent year-on-year to hit 238,904 metric tonnes (MT) compared to 231,713 MT in the second quarter of 2014.

The company’s sales figures soared to hit 232,193 MT for the same period in 2015, registering an increase of 2,383 MT compared to 229,810 MT in second quarter last year.

In addition, Alba was able to increase its value-added (VA) sales for the same period to 66 per cent versus an average of 65 per cent in 2014.

Commenting on the results, CEO Tim Murray said: “Despite challenging market conditions and the dramatic drop in worldwide physical premiums, Alba continues to exceed its performance targets.”

The aluminium giant will be releasing its second quarter 2015 financial results to the public on July 29, a statement said. – TradeArabia News Service
