Mercedes-Benz to enter Iranian market in full force

Iran Khodro, Mercedes plan new partnership

IRAN, July 29, 2015

Iran Khodro Industrial Group (IKCO), a leading Iranian vehicle manufacturer with headquarters in Tehran, said it plans to sign a deal soon with German automaker Mercedes-Benz for the production of cars and commercial vehicles, according to a report.

Daimler AG’s unit has decided to enter the Iranian market in full force and it will re-open its office in Iran in the next two-three months, Hashem Yekke-Zare, CEO of IKCO, was quoted as saying in the Iran Daily report.

According to the agreement reached with Mercedes-Benz, a five-year deal will be signed soon under which Setareh Iran as the importer and Top Khodro Company as the manufacturer will start distribution of Benz cars in Iran, he said.

A 10-year deal will be also signed for production of commercial vehicles…besides, Mercedes-Benz has announced its readiness to buy 30 per cent of shares in Iranian Diesel Engine Manufacturing (IDEM) and begin production of the latest world engines, he added.
