Use of protective glove crucial in oil and gas industry

Globus to showcase latest range at Adipec

DUBAI, October 14, 2015

UK-based Globus will display high performance hand protection solutions and other latest solutions, at the Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference (Adipec), to be held in Abu Dhabi, UAE, in November.

A leading hand protection and safety glove manufacture, Globus, will also showcase specialist chemical protective clothing and respiratory protection for hazardous working environments, at the event, said a statement from the company.

The four-day event will take place from November 9 to 12, and will be held under the patronage of HH Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE.

Adipec is amongst the top oil and gas events in the world which is expected to attract 85,000 visitors this year over four days from over 120 countries, said a statement.

All oil and gas professionals from around the world are invited to attend the 31st event. Delegates can listen to technical presentations, or attend plenary and panel sessions. An exhibition of over 2000 companies displaying products and services for the oil, gas and petroleum industry will be available to peruse.

It is essential that workers across the oil and gas sector protect their hands, with gloves playing an important role in optimising hand safety. In the oil and gas industry, gloves need to be chosen to match the hazards and the task, as well as worker requirements so that the job can be carried out without restriction. The right choice of glove should impact positively on the company’s hand accident rates and productivity levels. If it‘s durable, this should last longer than other inferior products too.

Globus has developed effective hand protection solutions to perform in extreme climates and to protect from impact, chemicals, cuts, abrasion, water and punctures. As well as reducing the risk of hand accidents, the specialist gloves on display at Adipec help to provide wearers with powerful grip in wet and oily handling conditions.

Additionally, following Globus’ recent corporate acquisition, a complementary range of Alpha Solway’s latest innovations in chemical protective clothing and respiratory protection products for hazardous environments across the oil and gas sector will also be on display, said the statement.

The range is manufactured using cutting-edge technologies and are designed to keep petrochemical workers safe when performing chemical handling operations and when protection is needed against inhaling hazardous substances, it said.

Steve Shale, marketing manager of Globus, said: “We are delighted to be showcasing our hand protection solutions as well as our newly acquired range of Alpha Solway chemical protective clothing and respiratory equipment at the event.”

“Oil and gas workers shouldn’t be at risk of injury caused by ineffective personal protective equipment (PPE),” he added. – TradeArabia News Service
