Samsung Engineering wins contract for MEG plant in US

US, October 28, 2015

Samsung Engineering Company has been awarded an early works contract from Lotte Chemical Corporation US for a 700,000 tonnes per annum (tpa) monoethylene glycol plant (MEG) in Lake Charles Louisiana, US.

Samsung Engineering will provide detail engineering and procurement for critical items, and the consortium partner CB&I will provide pre-construction consultation for successful bridging to engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contract, said a statement from the company.

Samsung Engineering is known as one of the most experienced EPC contractors for the ethylene glycols (EG) process and has delivered extensive number of EG plants for clients around the globe, including the Sharq EO/EG plant in Saudi Arabia, which has the equivalent capacity of 700,000 tpa such as this project, it said.

Choong Heum Park, president and CEO, Samsung Engineering, said: “We have previously worked with the client and successfully completed an MEG project.”

“We are looking forward to further improving our excellent relationship with them and providing the best services as possible on a long-term basis,” he said.

Samsung Engineering is focused on providing a world-class MEG plant for the US market with its consortium partner CB&I. Great synergies are expected from this consortium considering CB&I’s expertise in the US construction market and the previous experience working together on the Kuwait CPF project, said the statement.

Besides the US market, Samsung Engineering is actively targeting the sanction-lifted Iranian market and the brown field market, it added. – TradeArabia News Service
