Alba backs PIN conference

MANAMA, November 4, 2015

Aluminium Bahrain (Alba), one of the largest aluminium smelters in the world, has sponsored the currently ongoing Postsecondary International Network (PIN) Conference, which is being held in the kingdom.

The event, which is aimed at supporting initiatives that develop the youth of Bahrain, kicked off on November 4, will run until November 6.

The conference is being hosted by Bahrain Polytechnic, a well-known provider of applied higher education in the kingdom, and is being held under the theme, ‘Experiential Learning and Work-Readiness’, said a statement from the company.

A signing ceremony was held previously at Alba to commemorate the sponsorship support and was attended by Abdul Rahman Janahi, Alba’s director administration; Alba officials; and Dr Mohamed Al-Aseeri, Bahrain Polytechnic’s acting CEO; Dr Hasan Al-Mulla, deputy CEO Office; and Sharifa Al Hujairi, event coordinator.

Alba today (November 4) hosted members of the PIN Conference wherein they met with the company’s chief executive officer, Tim Murray, and executives, directors and managers, it said.  

The visiting delegation were given a tour of the smelter and briefed about Alba’s Training and Development department, the company’s operations and facilities as well as its position as a leading smelter in the world, it added.

Tim Murray, CEO of Alba, said: “As a Bahraini company, we believe in supporting initiatives that enable young Bahrainis to acquire professional skills that will equip them to be tomorrow’s business leaders.”

“Alba’s sponsorship underlines our support towards the Economic Vision 2030 of Bahrain, in which education is as an important pillar in the economy of Bahrain,” he added. – TradeArabia News Service
