Alba launches ‘Back to Basics’ safety campaign

MANAMA, November 22, 2015

Aluminium Bahrain (Alba), one of the world’s leading aluminium smelters, today (November 22) launched a three-day safety campaign, ‘Back to Basics’, in the presence of executive management and employees from various departments.

The ‘Back to Basics’ campaign was launched with the objective of stepping-up Alba’s efforts with regards to safety and realigning employees with the company’s three safety principles, Ownership of safety is everyone’s responsibility; Working safely is a condition of employment; and All work related injuries and illnesses are preventable.

The campaign will feature numerous safety sessions led by Alba’s chief executive officer Tim Murray along with department managers to spread the message that every individual in Alba acts as the ‘True Owner of Safety’.

Murray said: “The campaign is meant to remind us that safety lies behind those simple steps that everybody can perform.”

“We are looking at ways to ensure that all employees are aligned with the goal to achieve a zero-accident work environment and simulate their knowledge about workplace and home safety, as well as environment and health aspects that are essential to avoid any safety faults,” he added.

As part of the ‘Back to Basics’ campaign, during the three days, safety posters and safety badges reflecting the messages of the campaign will also be distributed to all employees. - TradeArabia News Service
