GAC executive wins global maritime honours

DUBAI, February 6, 2016

GAC, a global provider of integrated shipping, logistics and marine services, said its regional P&I (Protection & Indemnity) manager Meena Mathews has won top honours from International Maritime Club (IMC) at a key industry event in Sharjah, UAE.

Mathews was presented with the Excellence in Marine Claims Management accolade at the IMC Excellence Awards ceremony for her track record in delivering P&I and insurance services to maritime industry.

She was nominated by the club’s committee of industry specialists for her work in protection and indemnity and insurance over the last year, said a statement from GAC.

Mathews received the award from The Dubai Council for Marine & Maritime Industries (DCMMI) chairman Khamis Juma Buamim.

Lauding her feat, GAC Group Vice President (Middle East) Lars Bergström said: "Within GAC, we have long known what a valuable colleague and consumate professional Mathews is. Her professionalism and performance is a credit to our organisation."

“This award confirms that confidence in her and recognises her hard work, achievements and excellence in serving the needs of the regional maritime industry,” he stated.

The IMC is a non-profit organisation that has been serving the maritime industry for more than 7 years. It works towards the development of the maritime industry by serving as a platform for professionals to exchange knowledge and ideas.
 
Sohan Roy, the president of the IMC, congratulated Mathews for winning a coveted IMC Golden Shield Excellence Award Middle East 2016.

"The awards are part of IMC’s remit to recognise and honour achievements by exceptional professionals. They are an extension of our mission to develop the maritime industry region wide through ideas, knowledge, and professional development," he added.-TradeArabia News Service
