Garmco wins top honours for HRD practice

Garmco, the Bahrain-based international aluminium rolling mill and one of the largest downstream aluminium facilities in the Middle East, has received the Best Human Resources Development Practice Award during the 45th IFTDO World Conference held in Bahrain.

The event was organised by Bahrain Society for Training & Development (BSTD) in cooperation with the International Federation of Training and Development Organizations (IFTDO) under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, The Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Bahrain at the Crown Plaza Hotel, Bahrain.
 
The award was given in recognition of the company’s approach to Human Resources Development, said a statement from Garmco.

Commenting on the honour, chairman Mahmood Al Soufi said: "We are delighted to have received this award that recognizes Garmco’s proactive initiatives that illustrate the successful implementation of the company’s strategy to continuously invest in human capital development."

With an annual production capacity of 160,000 tons, the company specialises in producing high-quality rolled aluminum products in various sizes and alloys, including sheets and coils; while a foil mill of 20,000 tons capacity produces semi-rigid container stock.

Jean-Baptiste Lucas, the chief executive, said: "We are proud to have received this award recognising the company’s effort in embracing change and the development of human capital."

"The award is the embodiment of all the efforts that went into developing the "Handshake Initiative", a strategic initiative focused on applying best practices in Human Resource Management offered to encourage change, develop skills and encourage leadership in the work environment," he added.

The IFTDO was founded in Geneva, Switzerland in 1972 to develop and maintain a worldwide network committed to the identification, development and transfer of knowledge, skills and technology to enhance personal growth, human performance, productivity and sustainable development.-TradeArabia News service
