VSTEP wins simulator classroom deal in Philippines

MANILA, April 5, 2016

Leading developer of simulators and virtual training software VSTEP and its local distributor in the Philippines, Poseidon Asia, have been awarded a contract from Unitra Maritime Manila Inc (UMMI) for the supply of a simulator classroom.

UMMI provides crewing and manning services in the Philippines geared towards global competence and excellence.

The simulator classroom will be delivered and installed by VSTEP and its distributor during the second quarter of 2016, said a statement from the company.

Following the installation of the simulator classroom, the selected UMMI instructors and staff will also receive in-depth train-the-trainer courses from VSTEP engineers for operation and maintenance of the simulators, it added.

Capt Victor M Villanueva, president of UMMI, confirmed earlier this month the acquisition of two Nautis Standard Desktop Trainers and one Nautis Instructor Station including the Nautis Assessment and Analysis Module to give instructors full control of exercises during training sessions, said the statement.

As part of the proactive commitment, Alex Allan R Cortes, manning manager at UMMI, believes that acquiring the Nautis simulators for its in-house training will help achieve a higher level of competence for the crews working with various Japanese manned vessels and improve the safety and most importantly the behaviour and decision making skills of the crews, it added. – TradeArabia News Service
