Emirates SkyCargo, the freight division of Emirates, was recognised with a top award at the 2016 Asian Freight, Logistics and Supply Chain (AFLAS) Awards held in Shanghai, China.

Emirates SkyCargo, for the second consecutive year, won the ‘Best Air Cargo Carrier - Middle East’ award, said a statement from the company.

The awards, organised annually by Asia Cargo News, recognises leading service providers in the global cargo industry in over 40 award categories, it said.

The finalists and winners were determined by more than 15,000 readers of Asia Cargo News making the awards a reflection of customer and user opinions in the cargo industry, it added.

Emirates SkyCargo is the largest international airline cargo operator in the world with a fleet of 250 aircraft, including 15 dedicated freighters- 13 Boeing 777-Fs and two B747-400ERFs, said a statement.

With an unrivalled route network, the carrier connects cargo customers to over 150 cities in 81 countries on six continents and operates in many of the world’s fastest developing markets, it said.

The carrier connects 23 destinations in the Far East and 19 destinations in South Asia, including some of the fastest growing air freight trade lanes between markets such as China and India to the rest of the world through Dubai. Some of the exports carried from the region include pharmaceuticals, electronics, perishables and garments.
