Iran's steelmakers produced 7.216 million tonnes of
crude steel in the first five months of 2016

Iran’s crude steel production up 4pc

TEHRAN, June 23, 2016

Iranian steelmakers produced a total of 7.216 million tonnes of crude steel in the first five months of 2016, registering a growth of 3.91 per cent compared to 6.944 million tonnes for the same period last year, a report said.

In May, Iran’s crude steel output hit 1.645 million tonnes, up 9 per cent over the previous month’s total of 1.509 million tonnes, stated the Iran Daily News report, citing figures released by the World Steel Association (WSA).

China topped the list of crude steel producers in the period with 329.95 million tonnes, it said.

Global steel production in May amounted to 139.154 million tonnes, up 3.22 per cent compared with April’s output that reached 134.808 million tonnes, added the report.
