Al Mansoori ... RA and aeCERT adopts the latest and most
sophisticated methods

ZonesCorp, TRA sign MoU for cybersecurity

ABU DHABI, October 5, 2016

Higher Corporation for Specialized Economic Zones (ZonesCorp), a leading developer of industrial zones in the UAE, has signed a cyber security agreement with the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA).

Under the terms of the agreement, TRA, acting through the UAE’s Computer Emergency Response Team (aeCERT), will provide a number of advisory services to ZonesCorp relating to cybersecurity, said a statement from ZonesCorp.

The aim of this agreement is to ensure that ZonesCorp has a highly robust system in place to identify and effectively protect against and deal with online security threats, it said.

As part of the MoU, aeCERT will provide ZonesCorp with consultation on how to better protect its data against online attacks, conduct comprehensive risk analysis, provide education and training for ZonesCorp personnel and provide alerts on real time threats and appropriate response measures, it added.

Hamad Obaid Al Mansoori, director general of TRA, said: “Given the ultra-reliance on telecommunications and IT in today’s business environment, there is an ever present cyber security risk.”

“TRA and aeCERT adopts the latest and most sophisticated methods to ward off these risks or minimise them in order to ensure a healthy environment throughout the country. We are working in collaboration with ZonesCorp and a number of other specialised UAE institutions and authorities, to ensure that they have the highest levels cyber security across all their operations,” he said.

“This is an integral part of our strategic goal maintaining our national security. The authority will be working closely with ZonesCorp to ensure quality and continuity of information and communications, to maintain the confidentiality of information and securing against any potential cyberattacks,” he added.

Saeed Eisa Mohammed Al Khyeli, director general of ZonesCorp, said: “We welcome this initiative which is an important step in ensuring the integrity of our IT systems and business continuity.”

“We houses hundreds of important companies from all over the world in our industrial zones and maintaining security in all areas of it operations is of paramount importance. More widely this initiative is in line with the directives of our wise leadership and is part of the transition to e-government which is improving the efficiency and quality of government services as well as helping to achieve its overall vision to be among the best five governments in the world,” he stated.

“Naturally a key element of this transition is to ensure the security and confidentiality of government services and information using the most sophisticated and secure technology available,” he added. – TradeArabia News Service
