Anil Khaitan ... leading the summit

Gulf Industry Fair to host two major forums

MANAMA, January 16, 2017

Gulf Industry Fair 2017, the GCC’s industrial B2B showcase, breaks new ground by hosting two major forums that will highlight Bahrain’s key role as a conduit for industrialisation in the GCC.

The Fair will host the India Business Partnership Summit on February 7 at 2 pm and the Bahrain Industrial Association (BIA) and GIF will present the “GIF Dialogue: Future of Industry in the GCC” at 10 am on February 8.

The Northern Gulf’s leading annual industrial expo takes place from February 7 to 9 at the Bahrain International Exhibition and Convention Centre under the patronage of HRH Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, Prime Minister of Bahrain.

The India Business Partnership Summit will be led by senior vice president of the PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Anil Khaitan, who will bring a delegation of 30 businesses and entrepreneurs for the Gulf Industry Fair.

The summit will explore potential investment opportunities between India, Bahrain and the GCC, with the intent to further trade relations. Bilateral trade between Bahrain and India is already worth more than $1 billion.

“The business summit brought to us by PHD will play a practical role in Bahrain’s plans towards attracting foreign companies to take advantages of the kingdom’s  strategic location for the Northern Gulf,” said Jubran Abdulrahman, managing director of HCE, the organiser of the Fair.

The PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s delegation of companies will also be exhibiting under the umbrella of GIF’s Indian Pavilion. The companies, some of whom are new to the GCC market, include India’s leading industrial experts specialising in logistics, infrastructure, renewable energy, power and manufacturing. Among them are: Packraft Container India, Elektromag Devices, Maxmech Equipments, Swastik Furnaces, Green Planet Technologies and Satya Group.

The “GIF Dialogue: Future of Industry in the GCC” on February 8 presents a roundtable discussion, for Bahrain’s industrial leaders to discuss policy and initiatives to encourage industrial development.
Officials from the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, Majaal, PHD Chamber, Economic Development Board (EDB),  National Academy for Professional Training and BIA will join together to discuss issues surrounding: Regulations  to stimulate industrial development, Foreign Investment Opportunities, Industrial Facilities, Industrial Economic Outlook and Training for Industrial Needs.

“GIF will present a dialogue where the region’s leading industrialists can address initiatives to improve industrial developments,” added Abdulrahman.

The Indian Summit and the GIF Dialogue will both be held at the Bahrain International Exhibition Centre.
Gulf Industry Fair 2017 is sponsored by the Bahrain Petroleum Company (Bapco) and Aluminium Bahrain (Alba), in association with Noga. Majaal and Naffco will be supporting the Industrial Facilities and Fire and Safety sectors, respectively.

Supporting organisations for GIF 2017 include AHK Saudi Arabia, India’s PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the German Saudi Arabian Liaison for Economic Affairs, the Saudi British Economic Offset Programme and Bahrain Industrial Association.
