Fujairah opens new 33/11 Kv power station

FUJAIRAH, February 23, 2017

The UAE authorities have launched a Dh29.7 million 33/11 kilovolt power station at Fujairah to ease the load off another three stations in the emirate to ensure sustained flow and efficiency of energy, said a report.

This is in line with the Federal Electricity and Water Authority’s (Fewa) plans to meet growing demand for electricity arising from urban, demographic and economic expansion, according to state news agency Wam.

Speaking at the launch, Mohammed Mohammed Saleh, the director-general of Fewa, said the new 75 MV plant would serve residential buildings and businesses in Tawyeen and its surrounding areas.

''The new station will ease the load off another three stations in the emirate to ensure sustained flow and efficiency of energy,'' he added.

He said last year the Fewa had commissioned a number of substations in Ras al-Khaimah and Umm Al Qaiwain as part of its national plans to provide electricity to new infrastructure projects and housing complexes.
