Alba team meets with Supreme Council for Environment

MANAMA, March 1, 2017

Aluminium Bahrain (Alba), the Bahrain-based international aluminium smelter, emphasised its support towards Bahrain’s sustainable initiatives when a delegation from the company visited Bahrain’s leading environmental regulatory body, the Supreme Council for Environment (SCE) this week.

Led by chief executive officer Tim Murray, Alba’s delegation comprised director Line 6 Smelter Project and Engineering Shawqi Al Hashmi, administration director Waleed Tamimi, senior manager safety, health and environment Moh’d Khalil and acting manager public relations Fatema Al-Mohri.

Alba delegation met with the chief executive officer of SCE Dr Mohamed Mubarak Bin Daina, acting director for environmental assessment and control Eng Luma Al Mahroos and senior environmental specialist Eng Mohammed Aman.

The issues that were discussed covered environmental compliance of Alba and the efforts Alba adopted lately to further lower their emissions. The discussion also included waste management and the opportunities of investing in waste and by-products generated by Alba processes aiming to reuse it or to feed it to some other industries as a raw material.

Murray highlighted the progress of Line 6 Project and the various environmental projects undertaken in Alba.

Murray said: “Bahrain has made significant strides in the area of sustainability and environmental development due to the various initiatives of the SCE. As a corporate citizen, Alba remains committed towards the SCE programmes that will benefit the Kingdom of Bahrain. We are also thankful to SCE for their continuous support especially towards Line 6 Expansion Project.” – TradeArabia News Service
