Petroleum Specialties opens new plant in Sharjah

SHARJAH, March 12, 2017

Singapore-based Petroleum Specialties, a specialised manufacturer of industrial white oils, has announced the opening of its new $18 million manufacturing unit at Hamriyah Free Zone in Sharjah, UAE.

The 30,000 sq-m, fully-automated plant of Petroleum Specialities (FZE) is the first completely-owned subsidiary of its parent company, Apar Industries Limited, outside India, reported state news agency Wam.

It was inaugurated by Sheikh Khalid bin Abdullah bin Sultan Al Qasimi, the chairman of the Hamriyah Free Zone Authority (HFZA) in the presence of Saud Salim Al Mazrouei, the director of HFZA; Kushal Desai, the chairman and managing director of Apar Industries; Sanjay Abhyankar, the VP (Sales) and other senior officials.

Sheikh Khalid later toured the facility and was given a briefing by the officials on its various phases of production, stated the report.

Al Mazrouei said the FZE plant will have a prestigious status in the Hamriyah Free Zone, as it is a subsidiary of India’s largest, and one of the world’s top manufacturers of special types of industrial oil.

He pointed out that the launch of vital projects in the Hamriyah Free Zone would continue.

"We will continue our efforts to build partnerships and attract diverse investments to keep pace with the economic development in Sharjah, as the emirate enjoys one of the most diversified and attractive economies in the entire region," remarked Al Mazrouei.

"The inauguration of the plant, the first and largest-of-its-kind in the region, which is expected to meet the demand for quality industrial oil products in the regional markets, is proof of the HFZA’s successful strategy in attracting international firms," he stated.

"This will inspire us to increase our efforts to attract more thriving investments from across the world to the Sharjah. We will continue to improve our practices, services and facilities to achieve this goal," he added.

Desai said he was delighted with the opening of Apar's first fully-owned plant outside India, particularly in Sharjah, within the framework of the longstanding friendship between India and the UAE.

The Petroleum Specialties plant, which has a developed area of 10,000 sq m, boasts of close proximity to Hamriyah Port and Main Jetty. The is also equipped with a 1.4-km jetty pipeline, he added.
