Iran opens new major pelletizing unit

TEHRAN, August 2, 2017

Iran recently inaugurated its biggest pelletizing unit at the Sangan Iron Ore Complex (SIOC) in Khorasan Razavi Province, said a report.

The pelletizing plant, built at a cost of €103 ($121.7 million), has an annual production capacity of five million tonnes and uses modern technologies to reduce energy consumption, according to a report by Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (IMIDRO).

The plant, built in 36 months, was inaugurated by Iran’s Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade Mohammadreza Nematzadeh.

Sangan pelletizing plant was one of the IMIDRO’s stagnant projects which was reactivated in 2014.

The unit's machinery were imported from Germany, Italy and Austria.
