Declarations at Jebel Ali Customs up 18.3pc in July

DUBAI, September 13, 2017

A total of 250,000 declarations were carried out by Jebel Ali Customs Centers in July 2017 which is an 18.3 per cent rise from June that saw around 210,000 declarations done.

It is also an 11.5 per cent rise compared to the same period last year which indicates the increasing importance of Dubai role as a trade hub for world’s countries.

The number of inspections has risen as well. A total of 100,000 inspections were recorded between January and July compared to 97,000 inspections in the same period in 2016.

Yousef Al Hashimi, director of Jebel Ali Customs Centers Management said:” The increase in customs declarations is indicative of Dubai’s important status as a leading trade hub, and a good manifestation of the healthy economic growth that the emirate has despite the volatile markets.

“Dubai Customs has worked hard and flawlessly to sustain the growth by introducing world class services and innovative products to its clients following the wise vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai.”

Al Hashimi added that Dubai Customs uses the latest devices and practices in support of legitimate trade, and this was enhanced last year by the launch of the Authorized Economic (AEO) Program. – TradeArabia News Service
