Over 300 industry leaders attend ‘Future Mobility’ event in Dubai

DUBAI, November 7, 2017

More than 300 leaders in the smart, electrical, hybrids and hydrogen vehicles industry are participating at the ongoing 3rd International Conference on Future Mobility, which is being held in Dubai, UAE.

Sultan bin Saeed Al Mansouri, UAE Minister of Economy, inaugurated the event which opened today (November 7) and will conclude tomorrow (November 8), at the Grand Hyatt.

Representatives of global, regional, Gulf and local governments, and experts in the environment, energy, technology, communications, research and legislation are participating in the activities of the conference and accompanying exhibition, which is being organised by Emirates Authority for Standardisation & Metrology (ESMA).

Al Mansouri said: “The reality and the economic future of the UAE, which is aimed at innovation and the employment of technology, began its first signs with the adoption of two years ago by HH Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE.”

He added that the policy adopted by HH the President of the UAE included 100 national initiatives in the sectors of education, health, energy, transport, space and water, with an estimated investment of Dh300 billion ($81.67 billion).

Al Mansouri noted that it also includes a package of new national policies. Achieving this policy, such effectiveness is a clear demonstration of this approach. The national agenda 2021 has a firm commitment to the state in the context of achieving a sustainable environment and integrated infrastructure in terms of air quality, conservation of resources, increased reliance on clean energy and green development.

Abdulla Abdul Qader Al Maeeni, director general of ESMA, said that the conference and its accompanying exhibition are witnessing a year of great developments and reflect the convergence of ideas and international efforts to promote the sustainability system.

He highlighted the way technology is being employed in creating environmentally friendly solutions, which has a direct impact on the lives of our future generations.

Al Maeeni said that the international brainstorm hosted by the UAE reinforces investment in renewable energy and clean technologies, which is in line with the national agenda and the UAE's unwavering commitment to international cooperation to achieve these goals.

The 2015 cycle of this international event coincided with the UAE's development of an integrated strategy to promote the use of electric, hybrid and eco-friendly vehicles in order to expand its dependence on the national agenda which was announced by HH Sheikh Mohammad bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.

The UAE national agenda within the vision of the UAE 2021 is to achieve a sustainable environment and integrated infrastructure in terms of air quality, conservation of resources, increased reliance on clean energy and green development.

Al Maeeni said that the country aspires to become one of the world's top quality infrastructure airports, ports and roads, in addition to enhancing the quality of service provision to become one of the leading countries in smart services.

HE added that they are pleased to see the presentations of major manufacturing organisations, and to hear the opinions of leading experts and industry leaders, to share knowledge and to learn about new types of smart products from photovoltaic cells batteries, and safety solutions, vehicle communication mechanisms, between vehicle and emergency systems, and others.

Ahmed Pauwels, CEO of the summit’s organiser, Messe Frankfurt Middle East, said: “We’re delighted to partner again with ESMA, which continues to lead the way toward achieving a shared vision of smart and sustainable mobility.”

“In addition to the latest industry innovations, the event features roundtable discussions involving government authorities, car manufacturers, distributors, and road and traffic infrastructure developers, as achieving the UAE’s future transportation goals needs a collective and collaborative effort from all stakeholders,” he said.

Highlights of the opening day included presentations on ESMA’s initiatives in autonomous mobility in the UAE, details on the Green Mobility initiatives by the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy, developments on Fuel Cell Technology deployment in the UAE from Al Futtaim Automotive, and insights into BMW’s On-Demand Mobility Solutions.

The forum also featured an exclusive keynote address by Dr Abdulla Salem Al Katheeri, director general of the UAE Federal Transport Authority for Land and Maritime.

Meanwhile on the exhibition floor, lead sponsor Mercedes-Benz Cars Middle East displayed the region’s only connected S-Class, along with a C 350 e Plug-in Hybrid.

Lennart Mueller-Teut, head of marketing and communications at Mercedes Benz Cars Middle East, said the manufacturer has big plans for the future of e-mobility.

The two-day summit features an expert panel of more than 35 speakers, providing a critical platform where industry stakeholders can support each other in realising the formation of a smart, connected and sustainable future in the transport sector in the region.

The exhibition held alongside the conference is open to general public to view, experience and test some of the latest offerings in sustainable and autonomous driving solutions, it stated. – TradeArabia News Service
