Dubai, TUV in electrical appliances testing deal

DUBAI, December 12, 2017

Dubai Municipality has signed an agreement with TUV Rheinland, Hong Kong Limited, on recognition of test reports issued by the Renewable Energy and Electromechanical Laboratories of Dubai Central Laboratories (DCL).

"The move will help DCL to issue conformity certificates as per the GCC requirements for quality standards for electrical appliances," remarked Amin Ahmed, the director of DCL.

"The agreement strengthens the wise leadership's directives by extending bridges of cooperation and strengthening relations between government agencies and the private sector at the local and international levels," he stated.

Dubai is a regional trading hub in the region due to its pivotal role as an important trade player in the global trade map.

"It is keen to apply best practices in health and safety to achieve its objectives of promoting a happy and sustainable life and making the emirate the first in the world," observed Ahmed.

He pointed out that the Dubai Municipality was playing a vital role in supporting the private sector through the signing of agreements with local and international certification bodies, which will contribute to facilitating the import and export of electrical equipment to and from the country.

Fares Naouri, CEO of TUV Rheinland, said the agreement was based on the confidence gained by the DCL through its uniqueness at the Arab and international levels in the field of testing the safety and efficiency of electrical appliances, as it had received international recognition accreditation in six fields covering 98 global specifications.
