Omani products expo planned in Kenya

MUSCAT, March 12, 2018

The Omani Products Exhibition (Opex) organising committee recently held a meeting to discuss the preparations for the upcoming Opex 2018 to be held in Nairobi, Kenya, next September.

The Opex organising committee consists of Public Authority for Investment Promotion and Export Development (Ithraa), Public Establishment for Industrial Estates (PEIE) and Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

The meeting, which was held at PEIE’s head office, was chaired by Ayman Al Hasani, chairman of Opex organising committee, said a statement.

The meeting discussed the provision of facilities, information and data regarding the upcoming destination of the exhibition that shall be presented to the Omani firms, it said.

Additionally, tender envelopes on the organisation of the exhibition were opened during the meeting.

The committee informed that a delegation representing the committee’s members will be visiting the venue of the exhibition in Kenya to get acquainted with the procedures, where they will meet concerned officials and organising companies, it added.

The series events of Opex continuously seek to find and diversify the export channels of Omani products and increase the volume of the exports by providing the Omani exporters with the opportunity to present their products to new consumers and new markets.

It should be noted that the destination of the exhibition is selected according to several criteria including the results of the study prepared on the proposed market, size of the consumer market, competitiveness of the products, prices, shipping and financial system of the country, as well as views of the participating Omani businessmen and exporters, it stated. – TradeArabia News Service
