SNC-Lavalin wins Saudi Aramco gas plant contract

RIYADH, April 18, 2018

SNC-Lavalin, a leading engineering and construction group, said it has been awarded a multimillion-dollar contract by state oil giant Saudi Aramco to install additional facilities at its Wasit Gas plant, a major energy processing facility, in the country's Eastern Province.

Wasit Gas Plant is one of the largest gas plants to come onstream in Saudi Arabia, and is an enabler for the kingdom’s Vision 2030 economic roadmap, feeding into the national master gas network to meet domestic energy demand.

The scope of work includes construction of the Arabiah condensate handling facility and sour water disposal unit project at the Wasit Gas plant, besides the installation of process equipment as well as related civil and structural, piping, electrical and instrumentation and control systems, said a statement from the Canadian builder.

Work is already under way with a target completion date of late 2019, it added.

Christian Brown, the president of Oil & Gas, said: "SNC-Lavalin has an impressive track record of successful project delivery during our 40 years of working with Saudi Aramco and we are pleased to continue our long-term relationship on another important project."

"Not only does this contract further demonstrate our industry-recognised onshore construction solutions, it also emphasises our commitment to supporting Saudi Aramco’s IKTVA localisation programme to increase the employment and skills development of local Saudi talent," he noted.

Founded in 1911, SNC-Lavalin is a global fully integrated professional services and project management company and a major player in the ownership of infrastructure.

From offices around the world, the Canadian group's employees provide comprehensive end-to-end project solutions – including capital investment, consulting, design, engineering, construction, sustaining capital and operations and maintenance – to clients in oil and gas, mining and metallurgy, infrastructure and power.

Last year, SNC-Lavalin had acquired Atkins, one of the world’s most respected design, engineering and project management consultancies.-TradeArabia News Service
