CheMondis, a new global online marketplace for chemical products, which is a startup founded by speciality chemicals company Lanxess, has been successfully launched.

The startup has been set up as a cross-manufacturer and cross-dealer B2B platform on which products can be bought and sold (www.chemondis.com), said a statement from the company.
 
Matthias Zachert, chairman of the board of management of Lanxess, said: “Developing new business models is an important element of the Lanxess digitalisation initiative.”

“With CheMondis, we have launched a digital marketplace that specifically targets the needs of the chemicals industry,” he said.

After undergoing an intensive development phase with selected customers, CheMondis currently offers around 500 products from various suppliers.

Sebastian Brenner, managing director of CheMondis, said: “In the development of CheMondis, we have consistently focused on the needs and wishes of our customers.”

“The result is a highly modern and reliable online marketplace where chemical products can be traded. After only a few weeks, more than 200 companies have already registered,” he said.

“Here we are combining profound knowledge from the chemicals industry, a startup spirit and a high level of technological expertise,” he added.
 
CheMondis is a wholly owned subsidiary of Lanxess. The fledgling company has its own workforce, branding, IT systems and company headquarter in Cologne.
 
CheMondis originates from the company-wide digitalisation initiative that Lanxess started in 2017.

For this purpose, the group has established a standalone group function under the leadership of chief digital officer Jörg Hellwig.

The initiative’s core action areas are to develop digital business models, introduce new technologies throughout the value chain, develop and utilise big data, and foster digital expertise among employees, it stated. – TradeArabia News Service
