Top firms unveil 'green lighting' solutions at Dubai expo

DUBAI, October 15, 2019

Leading global companies are showcasing the latest in lighting design, professional lighting and audio and AV technology at the 14th edition of Light Middle East and the 3rd edition of Prolight + Sound Middle East which kicked off in Dubai today (October 15).

The events, organised by Messe Frankfurt Middle East, were inaugurated by Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, managing director and CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (Dewa). It will run for three days at the Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC), closing on October 17.

Both Light Middle East and Prolight + Sound Middle East will host hundreds of exhibitors and a number of conferences where industries experts will share their insights through keynote presentations and panel discussions.

Following the opening, Al Tayer toured the exhibition space of the co-located tradeshows accompanied by Helal Saeed Almarri, Director General, DWTCA and Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing, meeting with key companies showcasing the latest in lighting design, professional lighting and audio & AV technology.

Visitors of Light Middle East will be introduced to environmentally conscious companies that are going out of their way to bring solutions to the regional lighting industry without sacrificing product quality, said the organisers.

By uncovering a gap in the market – the need for an inexpensive and practical lamp shade that can be easily fitted – Brian Wholehan, CEO & Founder of EZ Shade is able to provide mass-produced products that are environmentally sustainable and Fair Trade certified.

“Our original white shades are made from recycled plastic in order to be environmentally friendly,” remarked Wholehan.

"In more technical terms, our shades are ultraviolet (UV)-resistant, polycarbonate plastic, making them virtually unbreakable, heat resistant with no colour change over time," he stated.

“Our Colour Cotton Shades are Fair Trade certified with our partners which means production of our shades offer the community good working conditions and long-term employment. This gives them the opportunity to provide for their families along with improving their living conditions,” he added.

EZ Shade is one of 311 exhibitors from 32 countries taking part in Light Middle East. More than 40 per cent of the exhibitors at this year’s event are centred around LED lighting, representing an increasing number of companies that have brought sustainable lighting products to the show floor.

Exhibiting companies at Prolight + Sound Middle East are also showcasing their eco-friendly solutions.

Companies such as outdoor lighting expert FRIZ, exhibiting their CAN and PowerCAN LED spotlights; and Czech manufacturers ROBE, with their motorised ESPRITE and SilverScan LED lighting solutions, are among the 58 exhibitors from 10 countries at the exhibition.

Dishan Isaac, the senior event manager at Messe Frankfurt Middle East, said: "The introduction of sustainable, eco-friendly products and solutions has been an encouraging trend to witness during the successive years of both Light and Prolight + Sound Middle East."

"We’re happy they have a place to shine on the exhibition floor as the increase in supply and demand for suppliers who are environmentally conscious is crucial to the success of these industries. Our ecological footprint matters now more than ever, and the example must be set by the leaders operating in these segments," he added.-TradeArabia News Service
