20 Bahraini firms to participate in Gulfood

Twenty Bahraini food companies will participate as part of the Bahrain Natural Pavilion at Gulfood 2020, a global leading annual food and beverage trade exhibition, to be held next month in Dubai, UAE.

The event will take place from February 16 to 20, at the Dubai World Trade Center.

These Bahraini companies will participate along with about 5,000 regional and international companies participating in this exhibition which is considered the largest of its kind in the world, said a statement from the organisers.

Some of the Bahraini companies participating in Gulfood this year are Trafco Group, Awal Dairy, Deeko Bahrain, Food Supply Company (Foosco), Factory for Bread and Pastry Mixes (BakeMate) and Bahrain Water Bottling and Beverages Company (BWBB), and these companies operate in the beverages, dairy products, pastries and bakery, packaging products, snacks, and fast moving consumer goods (FMCG) products.

It is expected that this year the exhibition will receive more than 100,000 visitors from 200 countries around the world, and innovation will be the main distinguishing feature to be adopted by the exhibitors at Gulfood 2020. The exhibition will feature 120 national pavilions filled with many specialised products in 2020.

The kingdom records its seventh participation in this exhibition, which was launched for the first time in Dubai in 1987, along with pavilions of major countries such as the US, China and Saudi Arabia, in addition to countries participating for the first time.

Gulfood is a good opportunity for the Bahrain Food Company to learn about the great innovations that will reshape the food sector, the trends that will turn into standards in the future, listen to the giants of the industry and the most prominent innovators and the most important players within the sector, and learn about the right path concerning the future of the sector and how to prepare to cope with it, In addition to entering into fruitful business deals and partnerships.

Bahrain Pavilion at Gulfood 2020 will be organised by Worksmart for Events Management for the seventh year in a row, in strategic partnership with Alwane Bahrain Society. It is expected that ‘Gulfood 2020’ will attract huge global turnout, whether to attend the main exhibition or its accompanying events programs, especially in light of the emergence of the Middle East and North Africa (Mena) region as a major entity in the export and import sectors. This includes the global "Halal Food World" platform.

The Bahraini participation in Gulfood comes amid reports indicating that the Mena region will exceed average global growth across seven of the eight sectors, as the poultry and seafood sectors have the best indicators, especially with expectations of achieving annual growth of 5.2 per cent.

The beverage and dairy sectors are expected to achieve annual growth of 3.6 per cent and 2.9 per cent, respectively, while the cereals and pulses sector will achieve a growth rate of 3.8 per cent, followed by the ingredients sector by 3.2 per cent and the confectionery and snacks sector by 3.3 per cent. According to the report, the fat and oil sector is the only one below the global average, but it is expected to record a regional annual growth of 3.4 per cent. – TradeArabia News Service
