Empower's district cooling building numbers up 6pc in 2020

DUBAI, March 4, 2021

Empower said its diversified portfolio covers all the major sectors in Dubai, with the residential sector maintaining the top position in the list of company's clients by 64%, followed by the commercial sector with 15%. 
 
The hospitality sector has increased its share from 13% to 14% in 2020 and the healthcare sector has a share of 3%. The other major sectors such as educational, industrial, and retail sectors together held the remaining 4%, said the statement from the company.  
 
Empower said over the one-year period, it had provided its services to many iconic projects in Dubai, most notably of which is Ain Dubai, the world’s tallest observation wheel that stands on the Bluewaters Island and also three stations in the Route 2020 of Dubai Metro.
 
The hospitality sector that has increased its share in company’s portfolio includes the major hotel projects such as the Avani Palm View Dubai Hotel & Suites, Adagio The Palm, 7 Palm and Paramount Tower Hotel, it stated.
 
CEO Ahmad bin Shafar said: "Dubai's urban boom has cemented the trends of the real estate development industry in adopting energy-efficient solutions to ensure greater protection of the environment and future generations’ resources."
 
"Nearly 70% of the total electricity in the UAE is consumed for space cooling, hence the importance of adopting district cooling services solutions which saves 50% up to of energy compare to conventional methods," he noted.
 
"This runs in line with the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050, which aims to transform the Emirate into a global center of green energy and green economy, and to strengthen its position to become the world’s lowest carbon footprint city," he added.-TradeArabia News Service
