Expo to celebrate top French artist's works
Dubai

Dubai-based Basement gallery will showcase the innovative works of Benoit Rondard, one of France’s most celebrated artists,  from August 11 to 23.

Rondard’s exhibition entitled ‘Sweet Eternity,’will be a celebration of life and a conspiracy against the inescapable, said a gallery official.

"Just as life is full of the inevitable and we have to refuse to let it just go by without creating an emotional persistence, his paintings are characterised by an inimitable sense of quest and sensuality that has an endearing appeal," said Baharak Raoufi, one of the founders of Basement.

’Rondard’s paintings are expressions of the pulsating world, screened through a sieve that reproduces images caught in the mind’s eye,’ he remarked.

’His paintings charge viewers with a visual and conceptual excitement of a kind now rarely felt in exhibitions. We felt that the mood and the current demand in the market for contemporary art in the regional market makes this an ideal time for Benoit’s extensive new works to be offered,’ added Narges Hamzianpour, the gallery’s co-founder.

In consonance with that excitement there is also a strong affinity between the viewer and the work, a silent communication that is so different from the increasing element of detachment that has permeated the art scene, she opined.

’It is the sort of art form that reflects the mood of man and his tireless pursuit of the elusive essence of the moment. The need to capture the ‘here and now’ is paramount and in constant flux. This is what makes the art form both steady and spontaneous at the same time,’ she added.

The exhibition comprises 20 pieces works that represent different points in time and different contexts – ‘Sweet Eternity’ is about the eternal dimension and the parallel world that can ultimately be achieved by the power of emotion which transcends space and time.

’Through identifying the eternity that is found in each moment, and the exuberance each moment entails, I have tried to express my  feelings at the moment of time, the ‘inner waves of well or ill-being’ that embroil you with the canvas, ” said an thrilled Rondard about his work.-TradeArabia News Service
