Dubai

Smania, a high end Italian furniture manufacturer, is presenting for the first time at Index Dubai 2008, a selection of its most recent creations for the discerning consumer.

Index Dubai, is one of the most successful trade fairs for interiors worldwide and one of the best sources for interior designers, architects, buyers, specifiers working to fitout the huge number of spaces created by the region’s continuing construction boom, according to a statement.

Smania collections, crafted in Italy’s fine furniture-making tradition are designed to meet
international tastes.

The exhibition space has been conceived in 4 stages, Night, Day, Office and Living.

The Night setting features the Master collection, the “Starnight” bed in its latest “Deluxe” version, (brown suede plain leather and brown tigro leather) while the Day setting has the “Biblo TV” bookcase, the “Saturno” table (round table with wooden frame and glass top with lazy Susan system) and the “Nora” sideboard, all in polished rosewood, a kind of wood that expresseselegance and prestige.

In the Office setting Smania are included the “Top Ten” bookcase and the “Stratos” manager’s desk in black glass and steel with Tijusleather while in the Living area preciousness and brightness, characteristics belonging to jewels, are embodied in the “Sphering” coffee table, the “Victorylac” bar unit, the “Agata” lamp, the “Cigno” desk) finished in polished lacquer and in the shiny black ancestor leather of the “Superior” sofa, presented for the first time at the Salone del Mobile 2008 in Milano.

Smania has been designing and producing high end interior and exterior furniture and accessories since the 1960’s. Smania’s products are creations destined for a cosmopolitan clientele who value quality of materials, tradition in craftsmanship and who like to express their personality not only through their actions but also through the objects they own.

Smania is headquartered in Italy’s north eastern town of Vigonza (Padova) where it employs 80 people. A branch of the company is dedicated to contract activity, mainly centred on the creation of made-to-measure furnishings for office, hospitality and marine market.

In 2008 Smania acquired Sitland S p A, Italian leader in the design and production of office and conference seating with revenues of approximately 40 million Euro in 2007.

Smania has a strong presence in Italy, with a distribution network spread throughout the whole country. However, it is overseas exports which are decisive for the company’s profits, accounting for 70 per cent of the turnover, which in 2007 stood at 25 million Euro. Russia is the second largest market behind Italy, generating a turnover of around 5 million Euro in 2007.-TradeArabia News Service
